Medora Ventures acquires Scott Shalett Strategies

Scott Shalett to become Managing Partner and Head of Public Affairs

June 25, 2018 – Washington, DC: Medora Ventures announced that it has completed the acquisition of Scott Shalett Strategies, LLC, and expansion of Medora Public Affairs practice.

Scott Shalett will join Medora Ventures as a Managing Partner and the Head of Public Affairs, offering existing and new clients expertise as in public policy, political organizing, crisis communications and corporate public affairs.

Their team brings smart financial structure and capital guidance to clients with an eye for building networks and having a positive impact,” said Shalett. “I’m excited about this merger and the opportunity we have together to engage private and public sector clients looking to grow or expand their business or engage on policy and social impact ventures.”

Until recently, Scott Shalett Strategies coordinated the public affairs and policy direction at the US Conference of Mayors under Conference President, Mayor Mitch Landrieu, New Orleans.

Prior, Shalett was a Managing Director and the Head of Civic Engagement at JPMorgan Chase & Co. where he managed a national program that engaged a diverse group of employees, who served as community Ambassadors in order to showcase JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s philanthropic and business impact and to build stronger relationships with civic leaders.

Shalett has held leadership positions at every level in government and in corporate public affairs. From 2007 to 2013, Shalett was a Principal at Dewey Square Group, where he managed high profile political, corporate, and non-profit public affairs campaigns for the firm’s top clients.

In addition to numerous campaigns, his career experience includes serving as Chief of Staff for Louisiana Lt. Governor Mitch Landrieu; as the Southern Political Desk at the Democratic National Committee; and as director of City Council relations for New Orleans Mayor Marc Morial from 1994 to 1996.

Jordan Mitchell to become Public Affairs Director and Head of New Orleans Office

Building on their strong roots in New Orleans, Shalett and Medora Ventures also announced today that Jordan Mitchell will also join the firm as Public Affairs Director and Head of the New Orleans Office for Medora Public Affairs. Prior, Mitchell led the fundraising campaign in the runoff for the recently elected Mayor of New Orleans, LaToya Cantrell.

"Jordan brings experience in politics and campaign strategy, fundraising for candidates and causes, and startups and venture capital to Medora Public Affairs,” said Scott Shalett. "His diverse background and commitment to New Orleans make him a great addition to our team."

Since moving to New Orleans five years ago, Mitchell has become ingrained in the political and business community as a public affairs professional. Mitchell’s experience includes organizing and managing budgets, leading grassroots campaigns, raising millions of dollars for candidates and causes, and serving as a spokesperson for campaigns and private companies.

In 2017, Jordan served as the Vice President for FLYGLO Airlines where he was oversaw GLO’s expansion into new markets, and led all corporate communications. From 2012 - 2016, Mitchell held various positions in campaigns for Sen. Mary Landrieu and Sen. Maria Cantwell as well as various other federal and statewide races.
